Alexa Green has become one of the most sought after new voices and rising stars of this generation. She is best known for her turn as Glinda in the Los Angeles and San Francisco companies of the hit Broadway musical Wicked. After playing to sold out audiences for nearly two years, she went on to appear alongside Neil Patrick Harris and Patti LuPone in the international cinematic release of Stephen Sondheim’s Company with The New York Philharmonic live from Lincoln Center. Alexa has toured both nationally and internationally as a singer and actor, known for her wide vocal range and dramatic musical flexibility.
Born and raised in New York, Alexa sang her very first song, “I Could Have Danced All Night” from the musical My Fair Lady at her local library talent show when she was three and immediately fell in love with Broadway. An alumnus of Stagedoor Manor, Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts Camp and The Broadway Theatre Project, Alexa attended Holy Trinity High School on Long Island, New York known for it’s impressive magnet theatre program. She spent some of her sophomore year as Martha Cratchit on the east coast tour of Scrooge: The Musical and as the front-woman for On The Move Entertainment. After high school Alexa attended the prestigious University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music where she continued to nurture her talents as a singer, actor and dancer majoring in musical theatre and graduating magna cum laude. While in college Alexa performed in numerous productions such as Cabaret, Wonderful Town and Pirates of Penzance and wrote her own cabaret entitled A Wicked Night Out. After graduation Alexa moved back home to New York City and shortly thereafter joined the Los Angeles company of Wicked.
Alexa’s passion has always been music and she is finally coming back to her roots as a singer and musician. She was a long-time resident Diva in the New York City based group Marty Thomas Presents Diva and spent the better part of last year touring with the renowned girl group Cover Girls Live aboard Norwegian’s Adventure of the Seas and throughout Asia. She has appeared as a guest star with The South Shore Symphony and The Symphony of Southern New Jersey among others and has been featured in the acclaimed concert series Broadway Sings, with Carole King at Avery Fisher Hall and most recently with Aaron Tveit at his sold out show at Irving Plaza. She received critical acclaim for her sold out solo show, A Shining Hour at Feinstein’s 54 Below, which she conceived an created with director Mitchell Walker and with much anticipation, Broadway Records has just released Alexa’s debut solo album, So Good.
The daughter of a violinist and a pianist, Alexa's favorite music to sing is country and bluegrass, and she has a soft spot for road trips, national parks and spontaneous travel. She currently resides in New York City. Her high school sweetheart is her best friend and she has plans to apply to graduate school to earn her MFA in the coming year!
